Lovin’ LYFE

When Thanksgiving food got to be too much (even I have a pumpkin pie limit) last weekend, we headed down to Palo Alto to meet some friends at the new Lyfe Kitchen.  LYFE, which stands for Love Your Food Everyday, is quite an interesting place.  With the power of an executive team including CEO Mike Roberts (former President and COO of McDonalad’s, people!), and the talent of super-chefs Art Smith and Tal Ronnen (click that last link and go to “executive chefs” if you don’t know those guys), the plan seems to be to grow and grow fast.  But, for right now, the only outpost is in Palo Alto, and I must say, it’s pretty darn delicious.

That’s the edamame hummus (pardon the crappy phone pic), just one of the many items on their separate vegan menu.  I also had a farmer’s market salad with slices of Gardein chicken that was delicious.  My husband loved his crispy Gardein chicken sandwich too.  No surprise they’re heavy on that particular brand, as it was developed by Tal Ronnen, but no complaints here.  They also have plenty of vegan items that don’t use any in case you’re not a fan.

The vibe is slightly slower than fast food, and only slightly more expensive.  Personally, I’d be surprised, and happy, if they were able to keep the prices that low.  I suppose franchising will help that happen, not that I know anything about the food industry.  What I do know was that it was affordable, tasty, and healthy… oh, and all the servers have these awesome ion spray cleaners that they clean the tables with and now I totally want one.  Where’s that Christmas list of mine…..    🙂
