Good Eats for a Great New Year

As 2013 approaches, I look forward to the new year and all its possibilities.  Who knows what joy might occur, what wonder I might find, and what peace I could bring to others.  One thing is for sure though: On New Year’s Day, I will be eating black eyed peas.  These, in particular:

The Southern tradition of eating black eyed peas for good luck and prosperity on January 1 is one that I love, mostly because they are one of my favorite legumes!  Eden makes them even better by packaging the in BPA-free cans and cooking them to perfection. They’re fail proof, really.  I drain ’em, rinse ’em, and add ’em to collards cooked up with onion, garlic, and veggie stock.  You can’t beat it.  Add copious amounts of hot sauce and it’s the perfect hangover cure as well.  Because, let’s face it, you partied hard the night before.  🙂

Speaking of hot sauce, I have a favorite one of those as well.   Something else for you all to look forward to in 2013 I suppose.  For now, enjoy the revelry, the resolutions, and robust rations of black eyed peas.

Happy New Year from your good friends at Vegan Favorites!

YAY Eden Organics! Their entire line of canned beans (and there are MANY varieties) is all “No Salt Added” and they cook the beans with sea vegetables to tenderize them… exactly the way I cook beans at home, but with right-out-of-the-can convenience. What’s not to love about that?! Happy New Year, all year long 🙂

Oh, I look forward to hearing about your favorite hot sauce! I’m always eager to trying a new one. I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve!
